Building A Shared Culture: Adam Hewitt, Cyber Revolution
From Adam’s experience, the success of an international team comes down to more than finding the right talent. It’s about creating an inclusive culture that brings everyone together in shaping the company values and putting them into action. Adam shares the importance of a shared culture and the value of ASW’s partnership in helping to support their growth.
Here are key takeaways from his conversation with ASW Head of Growth Daniel Breese. Watch the video below for further insights.
Giving Everyone a Voice
I believe that the values make up your culture as a business. When we redid our values a couple of years ago, we were actually in Bangkok. We sat down with them (the international team), and they were actually part of building our team values because they’ve been with us for years.
They don’t just feel like we’re shoving these words on a paper in front of them saying, “Go do this.” They actually helped us build those values. They believe in them. They’re the kind of things that drive the decisions they make each and every day.
Bringing Teams Together
One of our values is bringing positive vibes. We have a bit of fun, and we do like what we call Trivia Wednesday. It’s just an opportunity for the offshore team and the onshore team to get together and have a bit of fun together. You get to see each other’s real personalities come out and just get to know each other.
On the last Friday of the month, we do what we call a site-to-site shout-out. Everyone gets together as well, and we shout out each and every individual for doing really good things that month that are aligned with our values.
Understanding the Business & Finding the Right Fit
We chose ASW for our offshore provider because you guys really took the time to understand the role, not even just the role, but our business and what we really do, what function the talent was going to provide for us, and what problem it was going to solve.
That was the real initial thing: actually finding the right person. And then moving forward, now that we’ve done that, what I really like is that the talent now, that as we’ve grown and scaled, is very specific to almost like our ideal person that we want.
You do all the vetting and the hard work, and we just have five or six people walk up to interviews, and they’re all really, really high quality.
Appreciating the People Behind the Partnership
The experience with ASW for me has been amazing, not only from a business perspective and having amazing talent and staff, which is the main thing, but also the people: getting to know yourself, getting to know Joe Fussel, going to the AS White events here in Australia, but also overseas. We’ve gone to the last two and just getting to know you guys, the people behind AS White, has been awesome.
