Mekong Tour in Vietnam
Recently, we welcomed Mr. David Gamble – Director Finance and Administration of Warren Saunders – to visit our ASW offices in Vietnam. While having a chat to him, it dawned on me that David also loves travelling and I had no hesitation recommending him a self-designed tour to Mekong Delta – a 2-hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City. David set off the next morning. Accompanying him was Vy Pham, my Executive Assistant and coincidentally, an experienced traveller to Mekong Delta and our very own Social Media Guru Vu Nguyen. This southernmost region not only matches its title as a “biological treasure trove” with the diversity of flora and fauna; but also displays a unique mixture of cultural values from thousands of years of history. These never fail to put me and many other Australian guests in awe. They had great time exploring alluvial rivers and small, man-made canals canopied with coconut trees and other indigenous plants. These waterways took us to random fruit gardens where they enjoyed all kinds of delicious tropical fruits while listening to “Don Ca Tai Tu” – a traditional genre of music. The visit to a bee farm marked a surprising encounter between David and a non-venomous, domesticated python. The trip ended with a feast full of Vietnamese delicacies on a floating restaurant before returning to Ho Chi Minh City.
