Top job choices for fresh grads – Philippines
According to the government offices, over half a million students graduate in the Philippines each year, providing a stable workforce for local and international companies. Among these fresh graduates (fresh grads), or so-called millennials, there are certain job preferences which have been annually recorded by Jobstreet.com in the Fresh Graduate Salary Report.
The final statistics for 2016 has yet to be known but IT-related jobs seem to dominate the list one more time. These future IT engineers are closely followed by the workforce in Actuarial Science and Legal Services, explaining why the Philippines is still a key player in the global offshoring landscape. Further down the table, we can come across fields like: Healthcare, Journalists, Training & Development, QA-QC, PR, Merchandising and Customer Service.
This highlights the importance of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and Call Centres as they consistently offer the most positions for fresh graduates in the Philippines (nearly 150,000 in 2015). In fact, the industry alone overshadows all other top industries combined (only 15% of what BPO can recruit). This reflects a promising and optimistic future for BPO in the Philippines where it provides sought-after jobs and, in return, takes advantage of the talented Filipino fresh graduates.
