1. Hi Team! Please introduce yourselves. Tell us about your work and what do you enjoy outside of work?
Tuan: I have been with ASW since May 2022, running the Product team in Vietnam for an Australian marketing network company. I love traveling with my family, spending time with my sons, and being their best friend.
Michael: I have five years of experience as a front-end developer, and I currently hold a front-end position in my team. My role involves creating templates, collaborating on UI/UX design, and enhancing the overall appearance of websites. During my free time, I enjoy reading books, playing video games, visiting friends and family, and exploring new travel destinations.
Tra: I have six years of experience as a full-stack software engineer. Over the years, I’ve honed my skills in designing and implementing efficient and scalable applications, with a particular focus on web development. Outside of work, I’m an avid nature enthusiast and enjoy spending my free time hiking and camping in the great outdoors.
Quang: I work as a QC Engineer who makes sure the quality of the product is at its best before delivering it to the clients. I love traveling and swimming. I usually go to some popular places in Vietnam to enjoy the food and the view.
Phuong: I’m a full-stack software engineer with five years of experience in developing software solutions. I have a strong background in designing and applying applications, especially in web development.
2. What do you enjoy most about working with your team?
Tuan: It is teamwork spirit. We are from different levels and roles but are willing to support each other to achieve the same goal: complete the work with the highest quality.
Michael: When I joined the team, I received a lot of support, especially from my team lead. If I ever have questions about a ticket or anything else, I feel comfortable asking. Everyone is always ready to help.
Phuong: What I enjoy most about working with my team is the opportunity to learn from each other and grow together. We share our knowledge and insights, challenge each other to improve, and support each other in achieving our goals. Working with my team is both rewarding and fun.
3. How do you motivate yourself and each other at work, especially during challenging times?
Tra: I ask team members to express their concerns and share their ideas freely. Setting achievable goals and celebrating small wins along the way can boost motivation. Recognizing and appreciating each team member’s contributions go a long way.
Quang: Keep calm and communicate with the team to find out the root cause and handle it one by one.
Phuong: I emphasize the importance of self-care and work-life balance. I remind team members to take breaks and recharge. This helps prevent burnout and keeps everyone motivated in the long run.
4. Maintaining strong client relationships is crucial. Can you share a specific example of how you’ve effectively managed a challenging situation and turned it into a positive experience?
Tuan: I proposed the migration plan to migrate the entire system from old to new tech stacks. It was tough because I had to understand the infrastructure and architecture of the system. I scheduled many meetings to understand the requirements and expectations of the client. Then, I proposed a doable migration plan from high-level to details. Luckily, I got good feedback for that plan.
Michael: There have been instances where, after presenting the initial design to stakeholders, they request significant updates that require substantial changes. In such situations, I prioritize meeting the project deadline to ensure customer satisfaction. This often means putting in extra hours and working overtime to accommodate these changes. My goal is to prevent any delays in the project timeline and deliver a product that aligns with the customer’s vision.
5. What important lessons have you learned working together as a team?
Tuan: Be trustworthy and proactive in asking for help if you get stuck at something. It does not mean you are not qualified for your role; instead, you are responsible and want to find the best solution at work.
Michael: I’ve learned how to be proactive when faced with questions or challenges I don’t have immediate answers to. This involves asking the right questions and seeking solutions effectively. Working remotely has taught me to manage my time efficiently, ensuring that I meet deadlines and maintain productivity.
Quang: We need to understand clearly all the things that we are going to do. If there is any change, each member should be aware of it.
6. Is there a value or a unique trait from your country that contributes to making your team great?
Tuan: It is enthusiasm at work. We always try to complete the assigned tasks with the highest quality.
Quang: We work hard, we play hard. Our Vietnam team is very hardworking with big responsibilities. We do much to make sure the quality of the product is at its best before it goes to our clients.
Phuong: One of the standout characteristics is the strong sense of community and teamwork deeply ingrained in Vietnamese culture. We value collaboration and support one another, which creates a harmonious working environment within our team.
7. In 3 words, how would you describe your team? What is the secret of your teamwork?
Tuan: Best team ever! I am lucky to work with talented members. They are good at technical skills and eager to learn new things. To make everyone feel comfortable cooperating, I try to keep everything transparent and recognize when someone performs excellently.
Michael: Flexible, open, and dedicated. “If you need any help, just ask a question.” This is our secret.
Tra: Innovative. Collaborative. Adaptable. Open, honest, and frequent communication helps us adapt to challenges, share ideas, and maintain a positive and productive working environment.
Quang: Hardworking. Responsible. Collaborative. We are not only colleagues but also friends. We always support each other and be better day by day.
