Thao Hoang: Seeing Challenges as Opportunities
From working hard to working out, Thao from ASW Vietnam sparks motivation with a growth mindset that’s geared towards success. Learn about her fitness fave, her memorable moments at ASW, and what you’ll love about Vietnam.
1. Hi! Please introduce yourself. What is your role and responsibilities at ASW?
My name is Thao. I’m currently working as an Operations Associate. My primary task is to deliver the best outcomes and services to iPartners, a client of ASW.
2. Can you share a brief overview of your professional journey and how you ended up in your current role?
I started working at ASW as an Account Payable Specialist. After three years of working as an accountant, I decided to become an Operations Associate. Being careful, meticulous, and always learning has helped me achieve my current success. Now, I feel very blessed to have been with ASW for over five years.
3. Outside of work, do you have any hobbies or activities that you are passionate about?
Being active is a huge part of my life and I have dabbled in lots of fitness stuff. I spend my free time at the gym to be stronger and practice shuffle dance whilst waiting for cooking – I mean wherever!
4. What’s your secret to staying motivated, especially during challenging situations?
Definitely having a growth mindset. If you see challenges as opportunities to develop yourself, you will always find a way to overcome them no matter how difficult they are.
5. Congratulations on your double awards (5-year Loyalty and Client Spotlight)! What does being recognised for your achievements mean to you?
Thank you very much! That recognition motivates me a lot to strive and perform better in the future.
6. Is there a particular goal that you would like to achieve (professional or personal)?
I really love shuffle dance, and my plan is to open classes on both offline and online platforms.
7. Who inspires you the most, and why?
At different stages, you will meet the people who inspire you the most. But if I have to choose, my Mom and my Dad. They taught me that to be successful at anything, you don’t have to be special. You simply have to be consistent, determined, and willing to work for it.
8. What’s your favourite moment so far at ASW?
Company trips and year-end parties are the moments I look forward to. Meeting everyone, having interesting activities together, and enjoying a wonderful gala dinner performance.
9. What would you like people to know about where you’re from (Vietnam)?
Vietnamese people are really friendly and hospitable. In addition, rich cuisine is also what attracts many tourists to Vietnam every year.
10. What advice/inspiring words would you like to share with your colleagues at ASW?
“I am always doing what I cannot do yet in order to learn how to do it.” ― Vincent Van Gogh
